MM Distillery profile:
The Glen Garioch distillery in Aberdeenshire (at times known as the 'Old Meldrum' distillery and sometimes spelled as Glengarioch) was built in 1797 by Thomas Simpson. This makes Glen Garioch one of the few remaining distilleries that was founded in the 18th century. The first change in ownership occurred in 1837 when the owners of the nearby Strathmeldrum distillery (John Mason & Co.) bought the Glen Garioch distillery.
